A fixed 9-member ensemble, using the same instrumentation as the Miles Davis Birth of the Cool album: alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, bass, piano, drums. This ensemble performs jazz-style pieces by Davis and others, as well as new works categorized as Jazz, Classical, and Third Stream.
